Note on Genesis Series

I am grateful to all who have been joining me on this journey through Genesis since Trinity Sunday, on June 7. If you have been reading these posts you will know that my goal was to publish on Monday morning to help preachers and hearers of sermons to reflect on these Track 1 readings, in preparation for the following Sunday.

This coming Sunday, however, I will be preaching on the last Genesis text of this series. And I'd rather wait to publish that sermon here than do so on Monday. So it'll be coming...but it'll be coming on Sunday morning.

This has been a good COVID pandemic "discipline" for me - although it's been in truth a labor of love. I love the Bible and I love the Old Testament especially; not "more" but I love that it's important and too often neglected by Christians, particularly liturgical ones. So I hope these reflections have been helpful for you. See you Sunday!

About Me

In June 2013, I began a new ministry as Canon to the Ordinary in the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts, which is a fancy way of saying that I serve on Bishop Doug Fisher's Executive Team. My primary work in this role is to support clergy and congregations toward the larger goal of furthering God's Reign of mercy, compassion, and hope, especially in times of clergy transitions. Prior to this work, I served for two decades as a parish priest and four years in an ecumenical campus ministry setting. I've also taught the Bible to undergraduates as a lecturer at Assumption College in Worcester.

This blog is a place where I post sermons from my itinerant ministry across our diocese and also try to "think out loud" about matters of faith and life in the 21st century, a time when we face not only great challenges but also extraordinary opportunities.

I have been married to Hathy since 1986; we live in Worcester. Our two grown sons now live in Washington, DC and in New Jersey.
